Tenth Avenue Islamabad to Go Operational Next Year

Currently under construction, the 10th Avenue of Islamabad is 8.2 Km long. Phase I of the avenue extends from IJP Road to Srinagar Highway. Extending up to 5Km, first phase of the avenue is worth 10.286 billion rupees.

A total fund of 1480.000 million rupees was released for the 10th avenue Islamabad. While it was officially inaugurated on December 4, 2021 by the former Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar.

In its phase 1, this mega project will have the following subprojects;

  • 6 underpasses
  • 14 bridges and flyovers
  • 1 lane shoulder on each side
  • 2 overhead bridges for pedestrians
  • 3 culverts
  • 2 lane flexible pavements on each side

Being the lowest bidder, the construction and developmental work for phase 1 of the 10th Avenue was awarded to National Logistics Cell. As a percentage of the total allocated amount of Rs. 1.48 billion, the department spent Rs. 1.47 billion in FY 2022. Work on the project began in March 2022 and was scheduled to be completed in 21 months.

As of now, it's believed the project will be completed in Q4 2023.
